MetalKeen manufactures custom stainless steel sleeves coated with Metco 16C thermal spray alloy for industrial applications requiring exceptional wear resistance, corrosion protection, and long service life.
Metco 16C is a self-fluxing nickel-based alloy coating that provides excellent protection against abrasion, erosion, sliding wear, and corrosive media. After spray-and-fuse processing, the coating forms a dense metallurgically bonded surface with typical hardness of HRC 58–62, making it suitable for demanding rotating and sliding components.
Our coated sleeves are manufactured from stainless steel substrates using precision CNC turning, thermal spray deposition, fusing, finish grinding, and comprehensive inspection. Components can be supplied according to customer drawings with customized dimensions, coating thickness, surface roughness, and bearing or seal interfaces.
MetalKeen supplies Metco 16C coated sleeves for paper machine rolls, pump shafts, bearing journals, hydraulic equipment, conveyors, mining machinery, and other heavy-duty industrial systems where conventional stainless steel surfaces do not provide sufficient wear life.
A Metco 16C coated sleeve is a stainless steel sleeve protected by a thermal spray nickel-based alloy coating that is fused to the substrate to create a dense, wear-resistant, and corrosion-resistant surface. The coating is commonly used to extend the service life of shafts, journals, rollers, and sleeves operating in abrasive, erosive, or corrosive environments.
Hardness typically HRC 58–62 after fusing.
Excellent resistance to abrasion, erosion, and sliding wear.
Good corrosion resistance in many industrial aqueous and acidic environments.
Suitable for thick coating build-up and dimensional restoration.
Metallurgical bond created during spray-and-fuse processing for improved coating adhesion.

What is Metco 16C coating?
Metco 16C is a self-fluxing nickel-based thermal spray alloy designed for abrasion, erosion, sliding wear, and corrosion protection. After fusing, it forms a dense metallurgically bonded coating with hardness typically around HRC 58–62.
Can MetalKeen manufacture custom coated sleeves?
Yes. We manufacture according to customer drawings, CAD models, or worn samples, including custom diameters, coating thicknesses, seal surfaces, bearing fits, and grinding specifications.
Why use a thermal spray coating instead of solid alloy material?
A coated sleeve combines the strength and toughness of stainless steel with the wear-resistant surface properties of Metco 16C, often reducing material cost while significantly extending component service life.
Which industries use Metco 16C coated sleeves?
Our sleeves are widely used in paper mills, pumps, mining equipment, hydraulic systems, steel plants, conveyors, and other heavy industrial machinery operating under abrasive or corrosive conditions.
