A New Solution for Thin Wall Sleeve Machining
Thin-walled sleeve is often encountered in the machining of difficult to process parts, our company usually use two methods of turning and grinding, are not to meet the requirements of the design drawings. In order to solve the process problems, by filling the inner hole of the thin-walled sleeve with sawdust and injecting water to expand the innovative method, the rigidity and machining accuracy of the thin-walled sleeve have been improved, and the technical requirements of the drawings can be met.
the process of machining above parts is: pipe cutting-> rough turning-> semi-finished turning-> grinding-> finshed turning.
The machining of the surface of the workpiece is divided into roughing, semi-finishing and finishing, and the machining adopts the test-cutting method with the inner hole and the outer circle as the reference for each other, and the machining is carried out repeatedly. Finally, the outer circle is machined with the inner hole as the reference to meet the technical requirements of the drawings. the process spindles is empolyed in external surface turning.
the detailed process is as below:
First of all, the inner hole of the workpiece will be processed to the size requirements,
the thickness of wall shall be farily considered for futhrer machining
then the mandrel will be threaded into the hole, filled with sawdust compaction, corrective injection of water, to wait for the expansion of the sawdust
fine-turning of the outer circle to the size of the drawing requirements
roundness | ||
wall thickness | outer surface | inner surface |
2mm | 0.005 | 0.005 |
2.5mm | 0.005 | 0.006 |
2mm | 0.008 | 0.005 |
The result proves that the thin-walled parts processed by filling with sawdust water expansion method can fully meet the technical requirements of the design drawings, proving that this method is feasible. Filling with sawdust method is based on the principle of sawdust expansion after absorbing water, so that the parts of the inner hole and the outer circle to become one, thus reducing the deformation of the parts in the process of machining.
